After mass people were allowed to visit the\ninside of the renovated unconsecrated church, followed by refreshments of\nacquasale, pizza bianca, pizza rossa, zeppole, rustici salati, cake, and\nvarious drinks including Prosecco offered by Don Stefano in celebration of his\nname\u2019s day.&nbsp; A new chalice was donated by\nall those named Rocco. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The church, was unconsecrated to allow the restoration\nwork, will continue to be managed by the Municipality for the next five years,\nthen it will be returned to the Parish, reconsecrated to once again be used as\na place of worship. In the meantime, it will operate as a multifunctional\ncenter with the garden named \u201cParco delle Rimembranze\u201d. The Municipal\nAdministration with the approval of His Eminence Bishop Monsignor Giuseppe\nGiuliano, and regional contribution ensured the recovery project and\nrestoration of Saint Rocco Church, and its garden to be completed. The concrete\nportion is in the shape of a TAU Cross used by the Franciscans, and it also has\na very ancient meaning in the Old Testament.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A bit of history regarding Saint Rocco Church\nthat was an open-air cemetery used extensively during the cholera of 1838 and\nuntil the construction of the current cemetery in 1852. The current church\ndedicated to Saint Rocco is also the seat of the Madonna dell&#8217;Incoronata.&nbsp; It was built by Dr. Verna (pharmacist) in\n1914 on what had remained of the old cemetery chapel, and in 1920 the memorial\nmonument to fallen solders of the great war 1915\/18 was erected in its garden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For the people of Roseto, Saint Rocco is the\nplace where the feast of the Madonna Dell\u2019Incoronata took place with the parade\nof decorated horses\/cows, and children dressed as saints. It was also where the\nmonth of May in honor of the Virgin Mother of God was celebrated. At the time,\nDon Nicolino De Renzis was the priest who managed both Saint Nicola and Saint\nRocco Churches. Today, as one can see from the photos and video, it has changed\na lot and it has become the place of historical memories.&nbsp; For the next five years the &#8220;Parco delle\nRimembranze&#8221; and the church will be a multifunctional place for many\nactivities: Conferences, Concerts, Group Meetings and much more. For now, the\nstatus of Saint Rocco and the Madonna Dell\u2019Incoronata have been placed in our\nconsecrated churches. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Happy reading and to the many memories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>S. Rocco ex Chiesa<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Inaugurazione con una\nSanta Messa officiata dal nostro Parroco Don Stefano il 16 agosto 2023 come\npolo multifunzionale con il giardino che prende il nome di Parco delle\nRimembranze.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Per volere\ndell\u2019Amministrazione precedente a guida Parisi e continuazione con l\u2019attuale\nAmministrazione Comunale e l\u2019accordo con sua Eminenza il Vescovo Mons. Giuseppe\nGiuliano, finalmente si \u00e8 visto realizzato e completato il progetto di recupero\ne il restauro della Chiesa di S. Rocco e del suo giardino, la parte in cemento\nha la forma del TAU Croce utilizzata dai Francescani, ma con un significato\nmolto antico nel vecchio testamento.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La Chiesetta per ora\nsconsacrata per permettere la realizzazione dei lavori con i contributi\nRegionali \u00e8 attualmente in gestione al Comune per altri 5 anni poi passer\u00e0 di\nnuovo alla Chiesa e dopo la consacrazione potr\u00e0 di nuovo prendere tutte le sue\nfunzioni di luogo di culto<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Un po\u2019 di storia non\nguasta, dunque San Rocco era un cimitero a cielo aperto utilizzato grandemente\nnel periodo del colera anno 1838 e fino alla realizzazione dell\u2019attuale\ncimitero nel 1852, la chiesetta attuale dedicata a S. Rocco e sede della\nMadonna dell\u2019 Incoronata, costruita dal Dott. Verna nel 1914 su quello che era\nrestato della vecchia chiesetta e nel 1920 fu eretto il monumento ai caduti\ndella grande guerra 1915\/18.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Per il popolo Rosetano \u00e8\nil riferimento della festa della Madonna Incoronata con la sfilata dei cavalli\ne con i bambini vestiti da santi e li si celebrava il Mese di Maggio in onore\ndella Vergine Madre di Dio, all\u2019epoca Don Nicolino De Renzis era il sacerdote\nche ne aveva la gestione insieme alla Chiesa di S. Nicola.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Oggi come si vede dalle\nfoto \u00e8 cambiata moltissimo ed \u00e8 diventato il luogo dei ricordi storici ed ha\npreso il nome di \u201cParco delle Rimembranze\u201d e la chiesa almeno per i prossimi 5\nanni sar\u00e0 un polo multifunzione dove si potranno fare molte attivit\u00e0: Convegni,\nConcerti, Incontri di Associazioni e tanto altro.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Per ora S. Rocco e la\nvergine Incoronata saranno in luogo consacrato, nelle nostre Chiese.
