Modestino\nFair on the first Sunday of September. A Fair not only dedicated to the sale of\nanimals, but also farming equipment, ropes, saddles, packsaddles, bridles for\nhorses, belts, sticks, etc. and other products such as shoes, clothing and much\nmore. I remember it as the day Mom and Dad went to the Paduli (outskirt area of\ntown) and returned home with a small pig purchased to raise into the winter at\nwhich point it would be slaughtered to feed the family for the year. &nbsp;Unfortunately, for many years this popular Fair\nstopped being held to prevent the spread of diseases between animals that sometimes\nalso passed on to humans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This year &#8220;It was an unforgettable day where Roseto was able to live a moment of\ngreat freedom in contact with nature and to discover our cultural and\ngastronomic traditions&#8221;. Thanks to the\ninterest of the current administration who hosted the festival that explained\nits origin and purpose. The name of &#8220;Festival della Montagna \u2013 1151&#8221; (Mountain\nFestival \u2013 1151) was selected as a reference to Monte Cornacchia with its\nheight of 1151 meters above sea level is the highest mountain in Puglia. The\nparticipants in this Mountain Festival are the municipalities close to it,\nCastelluccio Valmaggiore, Celle S. Vito, Faeto and Roseto Valfortore. The Festival\ntook place over 4 days (one day per Municipality) and two weekends (September 2-3\nand 9-10.) The primary purpose of this union between neighboring municipalities\nis the mutual interest in promoting our small towns to increase tourism in the area.\nThis initiative that also involved local associations will hopefully bring\npeople to an area that continues to depopulate the same as many other small\nmunicipalities in Italy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It was an opportunity to experience nature and country\nliving. The Festival focused on four main tourist\nattractions: Food, Art, Move &amp; Energy. During the Festival, visitors were\nable to experience the agricultural world of the past and present by visiting the\nexhibition,\naround the pedestrian area near the former Church of San Rocco, of agricultural\nequipment both modern and old.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The award ceremony of &#8220;Infioriamo Roseto&#8221; (Let\u2019s\nFlower Roseto) was held in the afternoon.&nbsp;\nAn event created to make our town even more beautiful than it is already\nby adding more flowers.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Locals and visitors were enlivened the whole day by\nthe festival. In the morning. there was a Holy Mass celebrated in the garden\nand the blessing of agricultural equipment and land. This was followed by a\nlunch of local products for everyone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the afternoon, the Equestrian Association of Roseto\nhad a demonstration of skill with horses and riders in a timed path watched by\na huge audience. Many of the participating horses and riders were from Roseto,\nwhile others were from several nearby towns of the province of Benevento. A\ntruly extraordinary show with exceptional riders that we were happy to applaud.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At end of the day, in the Ex Chiesa di S. Rocco, now\nused as a Multipurpose Center, there was a round table in which the importance\nof the Festival was explained. A non-isolated event with a well-defined program\nthat will bring funds and tourism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>C\u2019era\nuna volta la fiera di S. Modestino martire, santo che si venerava in Roseto la\nprima domenica di settembre, una fiera dedicata alla compravendita degli\nanimali, ma non mancavano le bancarelle con le attrezzature per i lavori\nagricoli, funi, selle e basti e (i Vard\u2019e) briglie per i cavalli, cinture,\nbastoni, eccetera e anche altri prodotti come scarpe, vestiario ed tanto altro,\nio la ricordo come il giorno che pap\u00e0 insieme con mamma scendeva verso i paduli\ne tornava a casa con l\u2019acquisto del maiale che serviva per le scorte annuali.\nPurtroppo da molti anni non si fa pi\u00f9 la fiera vietata per evitare il\ndiffondersi di malattie fra animali ed a volte trasmissibili all\u2019uomo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Quest\u2019anno\n\u201c\u00c8 stata una&nbsp;giornata indimenticabile dove Roseto ha potuto far vivere\nun momento di grande libert\u00e0 a contatto con la natura e alla scoperta delle\nnostre tradizioni culturali e gastronomiche\u201d. grazie all\u2019interessamento\ndell\u2019Amministrazione attuale si \u00e8 dato seguito ad un Festival che spiego cosa \u00e8\ne a cosa serve, si chiama \u201c Festival della Montagna \u2013 1151\u201d il riferimento \u00e8 a\nMonte Cornacchia che con la sua altezza di 1151 metri sul livello del mare \u00e8 la\nmontagna pi\u00f9 alta della Puglia e i partecipanti a questa festa della Montagna\nsono i Comuni vicini ad essa, Castelluccio Valmaggiore, Celle S. Vito, Faeto e\nRoseto Valfortore, il Festival si svolge in 4 giorni una giornata per Comune,\ngiornate che fanno riferimento a due fine settimana&nbsp; quest\u2019anno \u00e8 stato il 2 e il 3 di settembre e\nil 9 e il 10 di settembre. Lo scopo primario di questa unione tra Comuni vicini\n\u00e8 la volont\u00e0 di far conoscere i nostri piccoli paesi ed incrementare il turismo\nnel territorio, questa iniziativa che coinvolge anche le Associazioni presenti\nsul territorio dar\u00e0 nuova spinta visto lo spopolamento continuo che hanno i\npiccoli comuni in Italia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00c8\nstata una occasione per rivivere nella natura ed nel il territorio. Hanno caratterizzato il Festival\nquattro cose principali per il turismo: Food, Art, Move &amp; Energy. Durante\nil Festival i visitatori hanno potuto rivivere direttamente il mondo agricolo\ndel tempo passato e goderne anche il pi\u00f9 recente, con l\u2019esposizione intorno all\u2019area\npedonale vicino alla ex Chiesa di San Rocco di mezzi agricoli di ieri e di\noggi, si sono potute ammirare decine di macchine adibite all\u2019agricoltura sia\nmoderne che di vecchia data. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nel pomeriggio si \u00e8 tenuta la premiazione della manifestazione \u201cInfioriamo\nRoseto\u201d manifestazione voluta per rendere pi\u00f9 bello il nostro paese che gi\u00e0 \u00e8\nbello, ma infiorato lo \u00e8 ancora di pi\u00f9. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Il\nFestival ha allietato l\u2019intera giornata con, un movimento di gente del posto e\ndi molti forestieri richiamati dall\u2019evento, sempre in mattinata c\u2019\u00e8 stata nel\ngiardino la celebrazione di una Santa Messa e la benedizione dei mezzi agricoli\ne delle campagne. E\u2019 seguito un pranzo per tutti con prodotti locali<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nel\npomeriggio, da parte dell\u2019Associazione Equestre di Roseto, c\u2019\u00e8 stata una\nmanifestazione di bravura con cavalli e cavalieri in un percorso a tempo con un\nenorme pubblico, tanti i cavalli e i cavalieri che hanno partecipato non solo\ndi Roseto ma di molti paesi finanche dalla provincia di Benevento, uno\nspettacolo veramente straordinario e con cavalieri eccezionali a cui va il\nnostro applauso.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Per\nfinire la giornata, c\u2019\u00e8 stato nella Ex Chiesa di S. Rocco, ora adibita a Centro\nPolivalente, una tavola rotonda in cui \u00e8 stata spiegata l\u2019utilit\u00e0 del Festival\nche non sar\u00e0 una manifestazione isolata, ma con un programma ben definito\nporter\u00e0 fondi e turismo.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>L\u2019Italiano segue sotto all\u2019inglese Once upon a time Roseto used to have the S.
