About Us
The Roseto Valfortore Cultural Centre has been in existence for over 50 years and is recognized as an integral part of the Italian community in Toronto, Mississauga, the rest of the GTA and as far reaching as our hometown in Italy.
Scholarships
The Roseto Valfortore Cultural Centre has established two scholarship programs with the University of Toronto, in the Italian language studies, and the Don Quintino Basso Scholarship Award. The Don Quintino Basso Award is a $500 dollar scholarship awarded to a member’s son or daughter who has completed a secondary school course of study and is now enrolled in either a university or a college program. The deadline to receive applications is January 31st. It is important that this deadline is met so that all applicants receive the appropriate consideration. Charity
The members sponsor and assist in fund raising for many charitable agencies. They continue to promote and maintain the values and traditions of their Italian heritage.
Italian Classes
In keeping with our initiative and to enhance the speaking of the Italian language, every Saturday during the school year Italian language classes are held for school age children 4 – 14 years of age at the center. In addition to lessons there is a Children’s Christmas party.
We will be starting mid-October the Italian Language classes for children between the ages of 4 – 14 years each Saturday morning at the Roseto Club. We welcome new enrollments. This is a wonderful opportunity for the children to learn another language and experience our culture. For more information please call Rosanne at 905-629-4080.
Tuesday Afternoon Games and Cards
Friday Night Men’s Night
Friday is a traditional night out for the men who get together to play cards, watch sports and share stories.
Dinners
Dinners are held regularly, typically with a theme reflecting our Italian heritage, to allow people to get together and socialize
Annual Picnic
The annual picnic is held late in the summer. Come out and enjoy good company, great food and fun activities for all the family.
Annual Golf Tournament
September sees our annual golf tournament followed by a BBQ dinner back at the club
