Roseto Valfortore Cultural Centre – Italian Language Programme

The Italian Language Programme has been in existence at our location for over 15 years. It is always well attended and supported by the community. The intent of the program is to instruct the students in both oral and written Italian language skills. There is also a sharing of our culture and traditions thru in-house concerts, events, film, music and even cooking demonstrations of our Italian cuisine. In the past the students have participated in various activities such as visits to the Villa Columbus Centre (Toronto) during the Ontario Italian Heritage Month and Christmas Time – visitation of the Nativity Sets. They have also attended the annual Carassauga Italian Festival where they entertained the guests singing Italian songs. The teachers of the Italian Language Programme are qualified instructors who are fluent in both English and Italian with educational backgrounds in Italian Language studies from the University of Toronto. It is proven that children learn from teachers who have experienced the culture and traditions of our heritage.

Most recently the Italian Language Program became part of the “Pulgia nel Cuore” Project sponsored by the Regione Puglia – Regione Promozione. This This initiative is to encourage the youth group to learn the language and appreciate our culture and traditions with the hope of continuing them in their future endeavours.

We at the Roseto Valfortore Cultural Centre are committed to meeting the above goal. If you have young children/grandchildren between the ages of 4-12 and you are an active member of the club please consider joining the programme.

The knowledge they will acquire thru this programme will certainly be put to good use, especially if they visit the Region of Puglia and our hometown of Roseto Valfortore. Foggia.

On June 3rd a celebration of the program was held.

Every week our Italian Classes commence with the singing of the Italian National Anthem. Click here to see it! Or here for a second version.

As part of the class a lesson on making pasta from scratch, following traditional methods was held on a Saturday morning. Please click on the links below to see the students in action:
