Roseto Valfortore awarded “The Orange Flag” by the Italian Touring Club
We knew we were immersed in nature and that our ecosystem is rich in animal biodiversity and unique flora with biologically clean healthy air and a unique microclimate. After the recognition and prestigious “Orange Flag” award sought after for years by our community, others are now also aware of it. An award earned, in part, thanks to most of our inhabitants who are aware and careful in preserving nature’s natural integrity that results in a healthy environment.
The Orange Flag assigned by the Italian Turing Club is an acknowledgement of good experiences travelers have while visiting the area. The award is based on the tourists’ assessments of the environment, culture, food and wine products, and the welcome they receive. All great tourism opportunity to relaunch the area and attract tourists.
We are all thrilled by this three-year (2024/2026) “Orange Flag” award received February 4, 2024, and we are truly proud of it. Our mayor’s emotion and appreciation for the recognition given to our town of Roseto Valfortore at the national level is evident in the interview she gave, and we want to share part of it. “It was a great and profound emotion. This recognition rewards us for the hard work done in recent years. We have always believed in our small town, and we were not wrong. There is still so much to do, and we will continue to be more convinced and determined than before, strengthened by the many recognitions and appreciations we have received. We have always dreamed big and today the dream has become a reality, also thanks to many tour operators, associations, and citizens who, together with us, have been able to dream and have each committed to do their part. Of course, we cannot underestimate the many problems that exist for us and for all small municipalities, starting with depopulation, lack of essential services, especially healthcare, infrastructure, and the disastrous condition of the roads leading to our town that penalizes us a lot. We will continue to fight, as we have been doing for years, so that the Province and the Region realize that it is their duty and our sacred right to travel on safe roads and not on mule tracks.”
We are 1 of 14 municipalities in Puglia to have obtained this recognition to date.

Sapevamo di essere immersi nella natura e sapevamo che la nostra natura grazie alla maggior parte degli abitanti che sono accorti e attenti a preservarne la sua integrità naturale è biologicamente pulita, un ambiente con aria salubre, un microclima unico, ricco di biodiversità animale e ricco di una flora unica ha avuto un riconoscimento che si aspettava da anni “La Bandiera Arancione” un prestigioso riconoscimento.
La Bandiera Arancione viene assegnata dal Turing Club Italiano come riconoscimento in base a quanto i viaggiatori, che visitano il territorio hanno come esperienza dalla loro visita in base alle eccellenze che trovano nei vari luoghi in cui fanno turismo, valutazioni che vengono fatti sull’ambiente, sulla cultura, sui prodotti enogastronomici, sull’accoglienza che ricevono, tutte cose che trovano, nel turismo, una grande opportunità di rilancio delle zone che visitano
Siamo tutti emozionati per questo riconoscimento che quest’anno e per il triennio 2024/2026, il giorno 4 di febbraio è stato riconosciuto al nostro paese, una delle nuove località premiate nella Puglia con “La Bandiera Arancione” e ne siamo veramente fieri, ma penso che, dall’intervista che ha rilasciato la nostra Sindaca, traspare anche la sua emozione e il suo apprezzamento a quanto è stato riconosciuto a livello nazionale al nostro paese, Roseto Valfortore, voglio mettere a seguito parte dell’intervista che gli è stata fatta:
“È stata un’emozione grande, profonda. Questo riconoscimento ci gratifica del duro lavoro fatto in questi anni, ci abbiamo sempre creduto nel nostro piccolo paese, non ci sbagliavamo. C’è tanto ancora da fare e noi continueremo più convinti e determinati di prima, forti dei tanti riconoscimenti e apprezzamenti ricevuti. Abbiamo sempre sognato in grande, oggi il sogno diventa realtà grazie anche a tanti operatori turistici, associazioni e cittadini che, insieme a noi, hanno saputo sognare e si sono impegnati a fare ognuno la propria parte. Certo non sottovalutiamo i tanti problemi che ci sono per noi e per tutti i piccoli comuni, in primis lo spopolamento e poi la mancanza di servizi essenziali, quali soprattutto quelli sanitari e poi, per quanto riguarda il nostro comune, le infrastrutture, le strade, grosso dramma che ci penalizza tantissimo. Lotteremo e ci batteremo, come stiamo facendo da anni affinché la Provincia e la Regione si rendano conto che è un loro dovere e un nostro sacrosanto diritto metterci nelle condizioni di viaggiare su strade sicure e non su mulattiere.”
In Puglia, sono 14 i comuni che ad oggi hanno ottenuto il riconoscimento e noi ne facciamo parte.
